Bring the STEAM Bus to your school!
The 43-foot STEAM Bus is the district's newest, one-of-a-kind classroom on wheels, serving as a progressive delivery system for Pre-K–12 STEAM education. This mobile makerspace connects students to Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics through 45–60 minutes of hands-on, problem-based activities using technology like tablets, robots, and AR/VR equipment. Its mobility allows Van ISD to provide state-of-the-art experiences to neighboring districts, all within a curriculum aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

STEAM Support of Curriculum and Student STEAM Experiences
Research-based STEAM lessons and units aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills as well as the National Science Standards to provide content-rich educational experiences for K-12 students.
Professional Learning
Provide professional development opportunities for teachers in the areas of STEAM so educators have cutting edge resources and skills needed to provide an enhanced educational experience for their students.
Partnerships and Community Awareness
Increase awareness of STEAM education through communication and collaboration with the local community.
Establish and maintain partnerships with businesses, industries, and higher education to provide STEAM opportunities for teachers and students.
Design work was done by students, teachers, district instructional staff, technology and maintenance personnel, as well as community volunteers!
The STEAM Bus took just
over a year to complete, from the start of the project, to the first event!
The STEAM Bus has 6 different hands-on work stations
available for use!
The STEAM Bus has 2 large screen TVs, 3 large computer monitors, and 1 large 75-inch TV to project video and web-based content!
No matter what the weather is like, the STEAM Bus is equipped for indoor & outdoor activities!
The STEAM Bus is powered by a generator & solar panels, and can even be plugged in to an electrical source!
The STEAM Bus includes
wireless internet!
Lab equipment is set up inside the STEAM Bus, including microscopes & AR/VR equipment!
